The Boots in the Other Foot Bainimarama
In propagating the decision of the illegal regime prohibiting the holding of the Rewa Church annual conference, despot Bainimarama and his illegal regime have painted a picture that they have brought the Church to its knees. The truth is that Bainimarama and the senior military officers and members of the military council have failed miserably. The Church had merely stuck to its principles telling the junta in no uncertain terms of its firm stance that regardless of the financial consequences, it will uphold its duty to God to be the prophetic voice concerning the dignity of the people; that when government and the military oppress, impoverish, deny the people their freedom and basic rights, the Church must and will continue to stand up and speak out.
While the offer of negotiation looks appealing, the Church has been aware all along that as long as dictator Bainimarama and the military is in control, any negotiation must not result in the Church surrendering its independence to be the prophetic voice upholding Gods principles and high moral grounds. Jesus is portrayed in the Bible as the worlds supreme liberator: The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lords favor.1 Paul tells us that to be saved by Jesus Christ is to be set free: It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.2
Further, as is now evident, Bainimarama and his government have already shown the world that they cannot be trusted with their undertakings. These rule out any meaningful negotiation.
So to the tin pot dictator Bainimarama; the boots in the other foot. You have merely shot yourself in the leg!

STOP TORTURE IN FIJI
TORTURE IN FIJI
SUVA, Fiji - The United Nation High Commissioner for Human Rights is helping Fijis security forces ensure that detainees will not be tortured or ill-treated.
International law dictates that torture or ill-treatment of those arrested or detained is illegal. Matilda Bogner, a regional representative, said that Fiji already has a strong commitment to banning torture and ill treatment.
At the same time, Bogner says she has worked closely with Fiji Police and the Prison Authority to educate them not to take the law into their own hands, but to defer to the proper legal authority.
Bogner was also careful to point out that Fiji is not unique, and it is crucial that the UN work with other countries around the world to educate and eradicate torturous treatment of those who are arrested or detained. The UN hopes to work harmoniously together with local security forces to address these human rights issues.

Methodist Church and Fijian Politics 101
METHODIST CHURCH
How important is the Bose ko Viti or Annual Fiji Methodist Conference to Fijians, is it just the funds pledged or soli misinari ?Much as we like to believe in modern western democracy and one of its pillars-the separation of state politics and the church, in Fiji the separation is much more complex with the lewe ni lotu Waisele.
The nexus between the Methodist Church and Fijian Politics is part and partial of the doctrinal harmonizing of Lotu, Vanua kei na Matanitu that Wesleyan instructions created in 1838.
This is when the Wesleyans in Fiji under Reverend John Hunt formed the Bose ko Viti (Fiji Methodist Conference) after being recognized by the British Wesleyan Methodist Conference as large enough to do so.
In becoming a district of the British Wesleyan Methodist Conference, the Bose ko Viti was recognized internationally as a national identity. A first time ever such political recognition was given to the group of indigenous inhabitants of the Feejeean archipelago based on religion.
From its inception the Bose ko Viti did not exist by itself but was fused with close collaboration with the Vanua and the Wesleyan Connexional Government that reinforced Kubuna hegemony over the other Matanitus of Burebasaga and Tovata especially after 1854 and Ratu Cakobaus conversion to Christianity. More so the present three traditional Matanitus with the three Turaga Bales is a Wesleyan construct crafted by Rev Waterhouse to foster political unity of Viti by adopting a Fijian mindset. It was created mainly for the Fijians, symbolizing the British Wesleyan Methodisms recognition of the Fijians independence and sovereignty over their islands.
Further, in the instruction to Missionaries published on 20 Feb 1825 as a guide to Wesleyans working overseas article 5 stipulates- Behaviour to Lawful Authority, as follows. You know that the venerable WESLEY was always distinguished by love to his country, by his conscientious loyalty, and his attachment to that illustrious family that had filled the throne of Great Britain. You know that your Bretheren are actuated by the same principles, and walk by the same rule: and we have confidence in you that you will preserve the same character of religious regard to good order and submission to the powers that be- in which we glory. Our motto is FEAR GOD AND HONOUR THE KING. These provisions directed the Wesleyans to strengthen the Turaga Bales authority and unity. This motto now adorns our national coat of arms. (Late Rev Dr. T Baleiwagas thesis ANU 2003).
That the Methodist Church is opposed to the present illegal regime is not surprising Understand Fiji Methodist History then you can Understand Fijian Politics.

The Disappearance of an Air France A330

disappearance of an A330
One feels sad for all the passengers including the extraordinary photographer, who kept his cool even in his last moments of life and took this photo. Hats off to him!!!
Yesterday the world saw the disappearance of an A330 Air Frane during a trans Atlantic flight between Rio to Paris
Two shots taken inside the plane before it crashed. Unbelievable! Photos taken inside the GOL B 737 aircraft that was involved in a mid air collision and crashed.....
A B737 had a mid air collision with the Embraer Legacy while cruising at 35,000 feet over South America. The Embraer Legacy, though seriously damaged with the winglet ripped off, managed to make a landing at a nearby airstrip in the midst of the Amazon jungle. The crew and passengers of the Embraer Legacy had no idea what they had hit. The B737
however crashed, killing all crew and passengers on board.
The two photos attached were apparently taken by one of the passengers in the B737, just after the collision and before the aircraft crashed. The photos were retrieved from the camera's memory stick. You will never get to see photos like this. In the first photo, there is a gaping hole in the fuselage through which you can see the tailplane and vertical fin of the aircraft. In the second photo, one of the passengers is being sucked out of the gaping hole.
These photos were found in a digital Casio Z750, amidst the remains in Serra do Cachimbo. Although the camera was destroyed, the Memory Stick was recovered. Investigating the serial number of the camera, the owner was identified as Paulo G. Muller, an actor of a theatre for children known in the outskirts of Porto Alegre. It can be imagined that he was standing during the impact with the Embraer Legacy and during the turbulence, he managed to take these photos, just seconds after the tail loss the aircraft plunged. So the camera was found near the cockpit. The structural stress probably ripped the engines away, diminishing the falling speed, protecting the electronic equipment but not unfortunately the victims. Paulo Muller leaves behind two daughters, Bruna and Beatriz.

UN criticized over Fiji military missions

UN criticized over Fiji military missions
Australia and New Zealand will continue to urge the United Nations to stop using Fijian peacekeepers until the country holds elections, according to media reports.
Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith, speaking after meeting with New Zealand counterpart Murray McCully in Wellington yesterday, said the demands to the UN are ongoing by both countries.
The countries say the United Nations should not help fund the Fiji military, which seized power in late 2006.
Fiji has up to 2,000 troops on peacekeeping duties with UN security forces around the world, including in Iraq, Lebanon, East Timor and Africa.
Smith said that Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd had taken up the peacekeeping issue with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
"The approaches are ongoing," NZPA reports Smith saying.
The UN decided last year not to use Fijian peacekeepers for any new missions but it has continued to deploy those already engaged.
McCully admits that New Zealand is not happy with the UNs unhelpful reaction to the situation in Fiji.
The fact that there's been no action on that front hasn't sent a very useful signal on behalf of the international community and I think the interim regime in Fiji has gained comfort and considerable amounts of cash from those ongoing peacekeeping activities," he said.
McCully said he would continue to step up dialogue with the UN.
Meanwhile, Fiji Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said he is aware of a number of approaches which Australia and New Zealand have made to cripple Fijis economy.
He also said that Australia has approached the Chinese government to reconsider its aid and funding assistance to Fiji.

Bainimarama Declares War on Religions in Fiji
LATEST ON SPORTS
From inside sources word has come that the Bainimarama junta has declared war on the Methodist Church and other Christian Churches, as well as Hindu and Muslim religions in favor of the illegal Police Commissioner Telenis new Methodist cult. Previously involved in devil worship of the Fijian deity Daunisai, Teleni and his family are now championing a cult they have called the new Methodists. In reality it is nothing more than cult worship irreverently against the worship of God but illegally promoted at taxpayers cost for the purpose of solidifying support in dictator Bainimaramas junta. In a nutshell therefore, new methodist worship is about promoting Bainimarama to the pedestal of the Gods.
The Bainimarama junta, according to reliable information, is now implementing a plan where it will require that all members of the Police force and the military will be members of this new Methodist cult by 2012. Loyal Christian, Muslim and Hindu members of the Police and the Military are now and will soon be facing persecution; they are now required to either become members of the new Methodist cult or resign. As Police spokesperson Ema Mua has confirmed, those resigning will be replaced by willing youths who have already been enticed at taxpayers cost and converted to the new methodist cult. Once the Police and military are secured, the junta will then move to sideline the influence the Methodist Church and other mainline churches in the Fiji community in order to perpetuate the dictatorship of the Bainimarama empire.
But, as all strategies against God are bound to become, the new methodist strategy is already failing. Close sources have confirmed that recently, the new methodists were refused entry into the military camp. The Methodists and major Churches are now waking up to the challenge to their positions. The greed of these devil worshippers who have refused to heed Gods justice, have taken the people to poverty and the nation to ruin for their own enrichment is right now corrupting them. Very soon their treasonous action will come back to haunt them. By their illegal action of taking over government, in declaring war on God, and in posing a real threat against the continued employment of loyal officers and all ranks of both the Military and Police by imposing their own brand of cult worship, reactions are bound to surface soon to become the final straw that will eventually break the Bainimarama regimes back

FREE FIJI
SWM have been informed by one of our members in the military camp in Nabua that the two intelligent officers who carried out an assessment in regards to Bainimaramas support in the Fiji army has been sacked.

Last week they brief Vore the result of their survey and they told Voreqe the frightening truth that the majority of the military no longer supports him and as a result they were fired on the spot.

Savoy Energy to create JV for oil exploration in Fiji
Savoy Energy has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Masi Corp Holdings Limited to create a joint venture in Fiji. The companies will seek to formalize a joint venture/ partnership that would create a new combined entity designed to license properties in Fiji for Oil Exploration and drilling rights.
The Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission's report "Fiji Petroleum Data Package" states; "Over twenty structural reefal traps have been identified on the seismic lines in the Late Miocene and Pliocene sequences, mostly in Bligh Water Basin. Estimates of potential un-risked recoverable reserves are 270 million barrels of oil (mmbo) per structure. If structural-stratigraphic trapping occurs, recoverable reserves could increase to over 1 billion barrels of oil per structure."
"Our research has shown the island of Fiji and its structural reefal traps has a tremendous amount of oil reserves, and we're hoping to work closely with Masi Corp in an effort to harvest those reserves in the most efficient, profitable, and responsible way possible," stated Art Bertagnolli, CEO of Savoy Energy Corporation.
